OK now about my trip...

First I have to say thanks to my family.
I would never have been able to go on a trip this year if it hadn't been for everyone's help.

It was a long trip and when we got to the room I was just amazed at how nice the room looked. The view was over the city and we could see the river and it was a beautiful view. We were all grumpy so we went to bed. I never realized how big and wonderful a king size bed is! I want one! We had a room with a whirlpool and there were four outdoor pools and two indoor pools.

I love the ocean. I got up early Tuesday and went out to see the sunrise. It was so nice. Did I mention I love the ocean? I walked barefoot on the sand.
Larry went to the Daytona International Speedway and really had fun. As a family we went to the marina museum. On the way down we stopped in St. Augustine. If you haven't been there that is a pretty little town. I saw Keith's boats. (For those of you who may be wondering that is my boss.) We rode the Daytona Pier Skysurfer and that was neat.

I didn't want to come home ;)

some more happenings

WE just got back from the surgery. It went well, althugh Jeremy is numbed and drugged up. They said his right tooth was really close to the nerve and there may be numbness for a few weeks. I hope that isn't the case. He has dissolving stiches, which is cool but he still has a follow up next Thursday. He's in bed now. i'm going to wake him up at 11 to see if I need to change his guaze or not.

Yesterday, i went into work for a few hours and then I headed home so Jeremy and I could drive to Richmond to check out this medieval faire thing. Not so much. We ended up not going in because it was 10 bucks and there were like 5 tents or so in someone's backyard. But the drive was nice... Then we went to a drum core competetion. I didn't want to go at first, but then I did and I actually liked it. Lissa and Chris showed up (eventually) and good times were had all around. Then we went to Steak and Shake. Some times I am hugely impressed with all the food my husband can eat in one day.

I took the day off work to be with Jeremy. i like him.

Sunday, June 25, 2006

Well I am home. It was a long drive. When I get rested I will tell you all about it.

Saturday, June 24, 2006

I found the MIA bird... It never made it out of the tree cuz it got stuck in the branches and strangled itself.

Our dogs are freaks. Why you ask? Because I've taken them for a walk three times today and all three times they pooped. That's a freak. Really, who has three bowel movements in one day?

I went into work earlier to make liposomes. And I may go back in tomorrow morning if Vijay emails me about what I need to do. This time next weekend, we will be getting ready to leave for Washington. cool, huh?

Jeremy made apple crisp this morning minus the apples and plus strawberries. We used some froze3n strawberries that we picked and it tastes amazing.

This afternoon, when I was going to work, I was sooo drowsy.

Oh, we totally got a wedding invitation for Jeremy's cousin's wedding. And we're totally not going because I'm totally going to be a bitch about it. They didn't come to our wedding, neither did Jeremy's aunt and uncle, no sorry we can't come, no phone call saying congradulations and for sure no present. So, alas, we will not be taking off work and driving to Ashland for a wedding when they couldn't even acknowledge us for ours. I'm sure they could care less, because we didn't at the time cuz we had lots of no replies... but I just got the invite to their wedding and it was totally one of those "oh no they didn't..." moments. If you don't respond to someone's wedding invitation, you can't turn around and invite them to your wedding three years down the line!
well, the baby birds didn't have a very good night. Two of them are dead, one of them is MIA and the other has taken up resident in the tomato plants. Jeremy got up at 6:30 this morning to let the dogs out and I literally thought a freakign war broke out in the backyard. Those birds are crazy. There was a freaking army of them. Literally. An army. I don't know where they recruited their friends, but they were screaming and raising hell and nose diving.

I just went back down and got the two dead baby birds and checked the nest and found it was empty. The mama bird was the only one left around and she was busy getting worms for the baby in the garden, so I guess she's just keepign it now. I was thinking abotu putting it back into the nest, but then decided against it.

Fields and Friends

Monday John's vacation is officially over. Today he's gone into work to catch up on his e-mails and do a few other things. Last weekend we went to Barren River Lake for a mini convention. He went to an hour meeting and then we had the rest of the weekend to play. The first night there was a banquet where we sat with friends and saw a magician. He was one of the best I've ever seen. He really seemed to enjoy himself and was humorous. He had John and some random lady help with a card trick. He had her pick a number and John a suit and then picked the card out of the deck. It was amazing. He picked a little boy out of the audience to help who had the most expressive face. We knew the family and so we knew he hadn't seen the magician before but he couldn't have been more perfect if they had practiced. Than Sat. morning we went with the Whites on a speed boat. The marina owners wouldn't let John take his fishing poles on the boat. He was a little disappointed. He had even bought a fishing license. But it was fun riding around the lake. We stopped in a cove and they swam and just relaxed. Then we went to look at the dam. When we stopped back at the marina for bathrooms, John and I went back to the lodge. I went to lunch and John went down the hill to fish off the bank. He says he got lots of bites. They ate all his nightcrawlers but were really fast so he didn't pull anything in. I was impressed with the service I received at lunch. My glass never got empty until I finally said no more. I sat outside awhile and read. It was nice in the shade and there was a breeze. That night there was a barbecue. They had the best corn on the cob. Again we sat late talking with friends. The next morning we had breakfast at the buffet and came home in time for church. Monday I went down to lodge with John while he helped clean up the damage from where the roof leaked before they fixed the roof. We had lunch out and came home to wait for Greg to come home to help move furniture from Mom's house. It turned out Greg's neighbor finally had her baby ( it seems like she was having contractions forever) so Greg and Rebecca were babysitting the other kids and were taking them to the hospital to see the new baby so John and I went out to dinner instead. Tuesday Greg and John went over to mom's and brought back the dresser/desk that was my Aunt Barbara's when I was growing up and the hutch and table (no chairs yet) that were my grandmother's. Then Rebecca met us all at Tumbleweed. Wednesday after lunch, we got movies: Rumor Has It... (which could have been a whole lot better), some action flick with Harrison Ford which was kind of stupid, and 16 Blocks which sounded lame but turned out to be a really interesting movie that I would recommend to anyone who wants to see a movie that ends making you feel good since justice won. Even the alternate ending wasn't too horrible.( At least from what John said. I refused to watch it. I liked the first ending too much). Wednesday morning I went to a class at Holy Spirit on introduction to Cathesis. I thought I knew how to get there. I'd just get off at Taylorsville Rd. and go on Cannon Lane to Lexington Rd. like I used to take Virginia to Mary T. Well, I went the wrong way on Taylorsville Rd. and when I tried to turn around I ran into a lot of no left turn places and got turned around. Instead of being early I got there barely on time and then I couldn't find were in the multitude of buildings the class was in for awhile. It turned out you had to go in the door that said do not enter, visitors go to the rotunda. Luckily I saw some random woman walking and she wandered around with me pointing out where it could be so I didn't panic and finally found the class just in time to sign in before it started. It was an exciting class and well worth the trouble. I was happy. Sometimes you wonder why are you wasting your time but this one was great. Wednesday night Greg and John went over and got some more stuff. Rebecca is keeping a couple of things in her basement and there were a couple of pieces they wanted so most of what John and Greg got that day went there. They did bring the to the table home to my house. We put 4 of the eight chairs in the basement. The table has two leaves to make it bigger but we're leaving those down unless we need them so we just need 4 chairs up for now. We went to Texas Roadhouse. But I was disappointed in the chicken so only ate one piece and sent the rest home with Rebecca. Earlier that day I was disappointed at lunch when the food I'd ordered didn't taste as good as I wanted. It was a bad day for food I guess. John also worked on patching the driveway Tuesday and Wed. Thursday we went to the Patton Museum. It's been redone since we went there with our girls. It's set up in a more orderly fashion with exhibits that explain the history. The first exhibit is about Elvis Presley's time in the service. Then World War I all the way to Desert Storm. They have examples of uniforms of both sides besides the weapons. At the end was an exhibit on General Patton. I didn't know he was in the Olympics but he had a medal for being on the fencing team. The panel truck he had fitted out to live in seemed nicer than some rv's today. It was thundering when we got there and when we left but it never rained. Then we stopped at lodge and John helped put ceiling tiles up after filling the Pepsi machine. It was fine downstairs where I was but upstairs where he was working was hot and messy because of the fiberglass of the new tiles and the plaster falling from the old ceiling the tiles covered. He looked like one tired puppy when they finally finished. Yesterday after eating lunch with Lee we went to the Frazier Arms Museum. It was another history lesson. The top floor was mostly medieval history and weapons. They had a demonstration of sword fighting with two handed swords. It was interesting in a scary sort of way. There was a lot to read and lots of mini movies about battles and how armor and weapons and ammo was made. They had a gunsmiths work tool shop. And some wicked looking knives. It was really something but it's not some where I need to go back to again. It was interesting that in the lot we parked in, they had a recording playing of a hawk. John said it was to scare the pigeons away. It was raining but John called Lee at the ballpark and he said it had stopped there so we went to the Bats game. The rain had cooled it off so the weather was pleasant. The Bats played really good and ended up winning 4 to 1. On the way to the car, we stopped and watched the fireworks. They were very pretty. This week I've eaten out a lot. I've talked to Rebecca and Virginia and Christy. It's been a good week.Fields and Friends

Story time

Once upon a time, there was a husband and wife. They loved each other very much. Every morning they would sleep late together and cuddle and he would get up and make homemade pancakes and make the wife feel very loved. They would lounge and play with their animals and check the daily happenings on the internet. Then, they would both get ready for work and head out after giving each other goodbye kisses, for they both worked nights. When their shifts were over, they would get in their cars and head home, tired and dirty and ready to be at home in bed to cuddle and look forward to sleeping late.

Years past and soon the wife's biological clock was ticking. They decided to move a place closer to the husband's work and the wife decided to quit her job. And she started to work on making babies. The place that they moved to was very quite and very peaceful and the husband and the wife were very happy. She had her babies and he went to his work and the only thing that changed is that cuddling in the morning involved more babies. And the husband and the wife and their beautiful children lived happily ever after getting up and doing the same old thing every day. And the people on the outside knew they were very happy. So, the husband and wife slowly left the thoughts of the people on the outside, for we all know they are living happily and will continue to do so. So, thoughts and drifts of minds back to them slowed and slowed, until one day, the people on the outside realize it has been days, weeks, months, even years since the last time they have thought about the happy husband and wife and their family. And the people on the outside are ok with that.

Woo Hoo!

Say hello to the worst singer and winner of $50 in the Wednesday night karaoke contest at Wet Willy's in Louisville :)

OK, to clarify, there's no way in hell I was the worst singer in the competition. I actually thought I did pretty good (I sang Free Falling and Tiny Dancer), considering it was my first time doing karaoke and after not having sang in public since I was like 9 years old. The group I was with was shocked when I told them I won worst singer (the guy gave me the money discretely) and they said I was at least in the top half. There were a lot of people just going up there and screwing around who sounded awful, so maybe they only considered the 10 or so people who they thought were actually trying to sing well (which would be fine with me because there were certainly some good singers there).

In any case, I don't really care how they decided it, I just got paid $50 to go out and have a good time :)

hello, all my loyal readers... ha... all 5 of you.

Work has been going really crappy. I don't like the guy I'm working with and he keeps on expecting me to stay utnil 7 or 8 everyday, even when I get there at like 7 or 8 in the morning. I do have things I want to do besides sit in lab all day, even if he doesn't.

Last night, we went out to dinner with Lissa and then went to go see V is for Vendetta. I really liked it. Everyone should go see it. It's in the dollar theater in Lexington.

I've been hot and sticky and sweaty all day. It sucks. We were going to go to some kind of art festival at Woodland park, but by the time I got home after sitting in traffic, I just wasn't interested anymore.

I am excited about going to Europe next summer. we just need to save up the money for it.

I'm reading a book called "All the King's men". It's pretty interesting so far. One of the guys at lab let me borrow it. I told him I would read it if he read Harry Potter. He hasn't started yet, so that's lame.

we found this huge ant nest next to the fence. I think Jeremy killed them all with bug spray and bleach, so hopefully they are gone for good.

WE have all these little bitty cucumbers coming in. they are really cute. i'm so excited about the garden

I just got an email from my best friend from 4th and 5th grade. That's freaky.

Saturday, June 17, 2006

This morning we got up early and headed out to Keeneland to help with the Asthma walk. It was as big as the Diabetes walk, but there were about 120 more people than expected, and the lady in charge was pretty excited. It was fun and we were glad to help out. They totally loved Jeremy- they called him their handyman.

We have so many baby tomatoes it is outrageous. love it.

Hershey came to the hotel yesterday and Jeremy brought home a bunch of free stuff. very exciting.

I talked to a girl from school that was at the same site for her May rotation that I'm going to be at in August in Ashland. and her hours were only 10 hours a day mon-wed. Isn't that awesome? that means I can go up to Ashland on Monday mornign and leave on WEdnesday night. But, I may need to stay there longer if Jeremy's parents are out of town and they need me to watch the dogs. I hope they aren't out of town too much.

lalalalalalala.

Can we get more towels if we need them?

Maid service? Great I hate for them to come bother me :)

I think they would give me a gift to NOT go to the presentation with my boys ;)
So I can't buy a time share? ROFL... How about if I just buy points from you? Can that be done?

Good I was worried about internet access!
Free activities... Great... also do you know if they have anything for the kids?

OH boy I hope we don't break anything... I know we wouldn't take anything, I don't do that.

Oh so I can be a bitch if they don't kiss my ass? I probably would be anyway, but it's nice to have permission.

If Larry will let me on line I will write an update. Leaving right after work tomorrow...

Becky and Mom, My niece was really excited about her stuff it was great. You really made her happy ;)
Christy,
when you drive up to the hotel, you have to have a card to get into the garage, so you'll have to pull up and park at the front entrance and then go in and find out which side of the hotel you are on... they'll let you know which garage you need to park in.
At condos, you don't have maid service every day. I think you'll get fresh towels on Wednesday and that's it. Also, go to the two hour or so long presentation and they'll give you a free gift (like we got a free universal ticket). Just make sure you don't sign anything or give them permission to check your credit. At the end, just say something like, oh, maybe later. I think it'll be worth the free gift. Also, there's free internet access on the lower level and lots of free activities you can do, so ask at the activities desk. there is a movie theater right next door. Be careful with everything, because if you break it or take it, I've bought it. and if the people that work there don't kiss your ass (because they don't know if you own or not or are going to buy), raise hell. Fairfield is suppose to be really focused on making their customers happy, but when we went to Daytona, there were alot of rude associates there that really pissed us off. They'll ask you to fill out a survey or something and mention people by name, good or bad, because the company really replies on that for feedback.

have a wonderful time and if you get a chance, right an update while you're down there!

Well this is it!!

I am leaving tomorrow for vacation!
I am scared and happy and excited all at once.
ONE MORE DAY!

we have four baby birds in the tree! I got up on the ladder and looked at them. They are so tiny. I tried to take a picture but then the mama bird took a nose dive at my head, so I figured it was time to go in.

Oh and, we're going to washington DC over the 4th of July weekend!

Monday, June 12, 2006

Well My trip is getting closer and OF COURSE a storm is brewing on the Florida coast.

But I will wish it away :)

4 more days!

5 MORE DAYS!!!

Well this time next week, I will be In Florida. I will have watched the sunrise over the ocean. I probably will have gotten my feet wet and I know I will have walked barefoot in the sand.

Thanks Virginia, mom and dad, and Rebecca.

thank you Jeremy for calling a dozen times to get my confirmation paper mailed to me. (Which by the way I am looking at right now. I look at it to make sure it is still there every time I sit down at my computer now).

I think I told the boys too early. I think I could have told them when we got in the car to leave and that would have been to early. LOL.

Rebecca, every time one of the boys gets mad at me they are staying with you. So far that hasn't lasted very long though. Jacob will scream, "I AM GOING TO STAY HERE WITH REBECCA." and five minutes later..."How many days until Florida?" Pretty cute actually.

Michael just says, "Is there water in Florida?" When we answer yes, "I want to get in the water," he announces.

I can't wait.

Today I had to go to an undergradutate research meeting thing. And the lady in charge got us all lunch. And the past two times we've had a meeting, she got vegetarian things. So, today I didn't bring my lunch because I figured I would get free lunch and I was sort of looking forward to it pretty much all morning. Free things make me happy, you know how that goes. So, I get there and all I see is chicken sandwiches. I asked the woman in charge if there was anything vegetarian, and she says "oh, oh yes... there's coleslaw." you know, those little single serving things. that hold like half a cup. Because a 1/4 of a cup of cabbage and and a 1/4 of a cup of mayo make a meal.

I HATE it when people do things like that. HATE. I guess next week I'll bring my lunch. I couldn't help but give the lady a look of disgust when she pointed on the slaw, so maybe she got the hint that telling people there's going to be lunch provided and then not providing is sinful.

Anyways, I did learn some stuff at the meeting today. One of the profs presented their research. I found out that when many women get pregnant and smoke, their doctors usually suggest that they go on nicotine replacement therapy. This is all well and good if it helps the woman stop smoking, but the research at UK that is now currently going on is showing strongly that the nicotine replacement therapy is just as deterimental to fetal development as actually smoking. So, if you smoke and are of childbearing age, you should quit smoking and not do it with the help of nicotine replacement therapy. Because you never know when you might accidently get pregnant and then you could really hurt your unborn child before you even know you have an unborn child.

I think I'm going to get off and watch the oxygen channel. ha. and then take a nap.

Gee Wiz Thanks Guys

Well I must say that I feel awfully technological "posting" and "blogging" and whatnot. Well I have an update on the crate-training situation, Twinkie sucessfully pooped on her piddle pad today after two and a half days of boycotting the whole pooping process (I'm sure she felt quite relieved). However, later on this morning when I was getting a shower she went in front of my closet and so we forge on. Chris and I are heading up to the NKY to meet Cheryl's new pup, Gunner this weekend who reportedly barks like crazy and growls and runs faster than his body can move lol plus he's a little floor-sausage that practically lives in his kibble bowl. Well hope you guys still b jammin' and VA, that you're surviving the boy's club at the lab! later guys

Jeremy, I am so friggin jealous of you right now, it's not even funny.

I just looked at the setlist of the Dave show you saw. Dreaming Tree, #40, Digging a Ditch, Dancing, Tripping, Two Step There's not a single so-so song on the list man!

I guess if they play Bartender at the Cincy show, you're summer will be made.

God, I've got to download that show. Almost 3 hours. Unreal.
I don't know what animal is in our backyard, but I don't like it. The dogs go crazy every single time we let them out. We had to put one of those dog run things that you screw into the ground and have to tie Maybe up. She runs right out and makes the jump into the garden. Perhaps doesn't though cuz she's a follower, not a leader.

Jeremy got hom at five last night. He had to sit in parking lot traffic forever and didn't even get to the expressway for two hours. And then I think he had to pull over a few times because he was so sleepy. I don't know how he can stay up for 24 hours, but he does.

So, I've been having so really strange dreams. really weird. and alot of them. It seems the 2nd I hit the pillow I start dreaming. weird things. And I've dreamed for the past week that's I've gotten up and gone to the bathroom. I did that twice last night. I know, because in one of the dreams, I went in and the toliet seat was down. And we never put the toliet seat down. And then, I dream I went in again to use the bathroom a few hours later and the toliet seat was down again AND the comforter from the guest bedroom was stuffed into the bathroom trashcan. But in each dream, I peed, wiped and went back to bed. so, when I woke up this morning, I was wondering if I was really awake or if I was just dreaming again that I needed to go pee.

One tired puppy. That would be me.

We got up this morning at 5:30 to go down to Keeneland to volunteer with the American Diabetes Assoc. walk. It was fun times, although if I have to say "one mile straight head, 2 and 1/2 to your left" one more time, to large masses of people, I won't live as long. I was put at the one of the forks in the walk and the only other help there was this teeny tiny sign that no one could see. I got a tad burned. I asked around for sunblock, but no one had any. I could not do what Jeremy does every day. He said that what we did with helping to set up and break down was about 30% of a typical day at the Marriott. oh well. There was a few thousand people that showed up, which was cool to see. wasn't so cool though when all those thosands of people got free lunch before me and left me with a bag of chips and a banana. Panera bread donated food, so I don't even know if they had veggie sandwiches or not though. I think 8 volunteers showed up from the college of pharmacy out of the 25 or so volunteers, so that was a pretty good turnout.

we left around 11:30 and headed over to the Farmer's market to get tomatoes. Then home to yell at the dogs some more. Not really... but they are for sure on my shit list. Both of them are freaking deer or something because they can jump the fence in the garden. Yesterday, i went out there to find my cabbage and my baby tomato plants massacured, along with three of the melons. Apparetnly, another small furry animal has taken up resident in our back yard because the dogs go CRAZY every time they run out side, trying to dig under the fence and such. And there's a bird's nest in the tree that we planted last year and Maybe know's it's there so she's spending her time on each equally obsessing. I just want them to stay out of the garden.

So, I got an interesting call last night. Kathie from GeriCare called. She was begging me to come back. Apparently, people are quitting and getting fired right and lef tover there and the staff is barebones. She said they really needed me.

I said I woudl think about it and ask Jeremy.

I thought about it.

I'm not going back. I need to get a job when school starts, but not there. There is too much drama and too much work for them to dump on me. They have one tech on the floor. One. Because 6 have left. And, if I did go back, I would ask for $13 an hour because that's the pay at a large chain for a 2nd year pharmacy intern at a place like Walmart. And considering that I got 9.45 when I left and they are suppose to be on some kind of hiring freeze, that's not ever going to happen. So, I have to call her and tell her what's going on tonight and I'm not really looking forawrd to that.

Jeremy is at the DAve concernt in indy as we speak. He met Tim up there. I hope he's having a good time.

I got a new VAN!!

I have a new van...
Not brand new, but a 2005 KIA Sedona!

It has 17k miles on it... All the other cars I have owned for the last few years you would have to add a zero on it haha...

But anyway... I won't have to cry and worry about being able to get to work in the mornings. I am so happy I could cry.

Everybody be happy for us...

Now I don't have to rent a van to go to florida either...
Oh yeah it has a 100k warranty too...
Woo hoo... The Shaw family is happy!

it was a long day today. I spent almost 12 hours in the lab. takl about tiring.

I was going to stay up and watch the spelling bee, but now I think I'm going to bed just so that I can be woken up by Jeremy when he gets up in the morning to go to work. I have to be at school tomorrow early for the PY1 orientation. yippee
