today I got up and walked to CVS to get my check and some wasp spray. there's a hugh nest on our garage that I found last night. It took me 25 minutes to get to work, but that was a little off roading when cars came by. Then, I got Jeremy up out of bed and we went and got me a new pair of tennis shoes because mine got very dirty when I went for the walk. And I needed a pair to go to work in because I was going to stand for 9 hours. And I've been wanting a new pair of shoes.
So, I went to work in Richmond today. I had heard horror stories about it, but it really wasn't that bad at all. in fact, I actually enjoyed.

Shakertown
Friday, June 29, 2007
Yesterday my mom came to town and we went and spent the day at the Shaker Village. it was good times even though it was raining somewhat. And from the sounds of the thunder outside, I think it is going to start storming again. That's good though so I don't need to water the garden.
Then we came home and waited for Jeremy to get home from work. He was in Cincinnati for the day working and then he headed over to the Griffin Gate to go to Jenn's going away party. She's leaving to go work in Las Vegas. After that we headed out to dinner and Jeremy got a free piece of pie and Mom got a piece to take home dad. I was too stuffed to eat anything else... in fact I had to take home half my sandwich. Speaking of which, I accidently left my sandwich on the kitchen counter all night and I didn't find it until this afternoon. I ate it anyway, so hopefully I won't die of food spoilage. it's been a couple of hours, and I still feel ok.
In case anyone cares, Jeremy appreciated the pie and the olive branch, although he said he was surprised that he was offered either.
here's a conversation that we had last night in bed that was really funny...
me: are you going to lift tomorrow?
Jeremy: why? will it make me more sexily?
:pause:
me: Is that a double superlative?
:pause:
Jeremy:No, it's an adverb modifying an adjective.
me: Oh...
It was really funny. I guess you had to be there. Almost as funny as when I warned mom to stay away from the turkey at the village because I wasn't going to be pulling any killer, attack-giant turkey's off of her

wow,
what a very lazy day. Jeremy got up early this morning to go and work out while I stayed in bed until midafternoon. And now I'm staying up late. I think I'll go to bed soon though.
I hope that Jeremy likes our kids when we have them. We went strawberry picking with Rebekah and her son Andrew and I don't think Jeremy like him at all. I don't know why; I think he's a pretty cute kid. I hope that he has fun with our kids.
So, apparently I was suppose to get my raise at the beginning of the month and I did not. That's lame. I have to talk to someone about it tomorrow and figure out what is going on.
My calves really hurt today. I don't know what I did yesterday to make them hurt so much.
I was suppose to call Katie today but I forgot. she went to bingo last night and won the last game! isn't that funny? I wish that I had been there. It would have been fun times.
Sometimes I think about how in 10 years our puppies may be dead by then and that makes me really sad. I can be pretty depressing sometimes.

Yesterday saw no strawberry picking. I knew that there had been a bad season because of that frost we had at the beginning of the season, but I went to the website and it didn't say anything about how there weren't any strawberries at all. In fact, the website talking about June still having a strawberry festival. So, we went and found out that there hasn't been strawberries in 8 weeks. lame. so, we ended up going raspberry and blackberry picking. granted, we won't able to get as much to make jam as we would have with the strawberries, but Jeremy made 3 nice jars this morning. there is always next year.

I worked at Paris today. I got my first compliant from a customer. But I think I'm ok with it. I don't know how I could have handled the situation any better. A guy came through the drive thru to get medications for his mother. And we hadn't filled them because there was some issue with rebilling or something. Kenneth was working on it, and I heard him mention it, but then a couple of hours passed and he left for the day, so i had no idea what was going on with it. Anyway, we started filling the meds when the son came through the drive thru. we told him it would take five minutes. So, the phone rings and I answer it and it's the guy's mother! He had called her while sitting in the drive through. So, she starts yelling at me and saying she talked to me earlier this morning and I said her prescriptions were ready. I apoligized and said we were working on it right now and sorry for the confusion, I that I didn't think I was the one that talked to her but we were going to fix the problem as soon as possible. And she kept on going on and on and asking if there was another girl there working, and I was like yes there is, and I was sorry, I would fix the problem and get the prescriptions to her son, I just had to fill them. so, when she came back at me again yelling, I said I was sorry and I 'll get it taken care of and hung up. so, then she calls back and talks to Mike, the pharmacist. And all Mike said was "ok, I'll talk to her... ok... I'll talk to her." over and over again, like 10 times. I don't know what she wanted me to do. I said I was sorry, multiple times, I said I would fix the problem and I would get it taken care of, I said I was sorry that we ever told her it would be ready. But I can't really fill her prescriptions at the same time I was on the phone with her yelling at me. I mean, there's only so many ways you can beat a dead horse telling someone you are upset with them. I just don't understand what she wanted me to do. I guess I should have said I'm sorry 10 times.

On the trail with the overlook of the Marina there is this perfect sitting rock. John is fixing his shoe here. I came here by myself to write while he was fishing. The trail is fairly level even though it runs along the edge of the hill and the road isn't very far in back of where John's sitting so I felt sure I could get help if needed.
I attempted to cut down on the pictures so I could share without over doing it. I still had these three that wouldn't go on the first post. Maybe if I had did a post about the zoo and one about Lake Cumberland it would have been better. I didn't know I would run out of room and it took forever to load the pictures so I'm not going back to change it.
We went to Lake Cumberland.
the dam at lake cumberland. the lake's down because it has a crack that needs to be repaired
John caught lots of nice size blue gills.
I sometimes sat on this patio and wrote watching the lake.

yesterday I worked for 10:30, not counting the hour drive to and from work and man can I feel it this morning. I did stay up late to watch a Netflix movie that we got in the mail so we could send it back out this morning. I have to work today again, but it is only until 6 I think. and I'll get another $30 in mileage, so that is nice. I think my pay increases this week as well.

8:52... how about that?
I went out to water the garden and was aggressively attacked by 5 wasps. Apparently, we have a wasp nest in our backyard. Granted, one stung later, with bug spray and the water hose, there are no more wasps in our backyard. Unless they decide to reorganize an attack.
I have to work tonight from 1 to 9. I'm sure the time will pass by fast because it always does.

I had a huge list of things to do today. And none of it got done.
We woke up and I wanted to go for a bike ride out in the country. So, we got my old bike down and figured that it needed a new tube. So, we went to Walmart and bought two new inner tubes, but then when we got back and Jeremy put them in, one busted almost immediately. and when that happened the tire also tore. and the changing gears on my bike was weird too, so I think that it may be time to retire it.
so, then we headed over to I-CHing for lunch because we got a really good coupon in the mail. After that we headed to Arby's for shakes due to another coupon. We headed over to Jeremy's old boss' Jen's house to look at her yard sale. She has sold everything out of her house and is moving to Las Vegas for a job. Her ex-husband works at the Griffin Gate and apparently the situation has gone from bad to worse so she has decided to move and sold most of everything out of her house over Memorial day weekend. crazy stuff.
Then, we came home and watched tv for a bit, then I went and picked up the poop from outside and Jeremy helped me. And that was as much production we did all day. Finally, we decided to go for a walk around the neighborhood and we actually ran into the GM from the Courtyard here in Lexington. Apparently he had moved into the neighborhood last month. so, we talked to him for a bit, then we came back home. I sat outside with the animals for a bit, then we headed over to Steak and Shake for a late night dinner. I'm sure we will regret it later.
I wish that out house could be magically clean

So, I'm sort of irritated at Fairfield. Don't want to talk about the details, but clearly irritated.
It hailed today! And I freaked out because it was right at the time that Jeremy was suppose to be driving home. So, I called him in a panic and told him to hid his car, anywhere, just hide it. He ended up going to the Shell station by work and got under their canopy. But then it didn't even hail over where he was.
I ran again today and my time was 9:20. I was very sad. I have been running at home around the neighborhood, but it's been pretty slow. so, I am very sad.

This is John on the Bowfin Submarine from World War II at one of the guns outside and "talking on the phone inside. I can't believe people actually lived months in that little space.
The Bowfin is underneath the phone picture.

This is John holding out the Kentucky flag in front of the USS Missouri. It not only fought in WWII but in the Gulf War before being retired.

John wanted a picture of him swabbing the deck. Pearl Harbor in background.

Here he is again. He asked for this picture to be taken, too. He usually has to be talked into pictures but since he wanted these taken I just have to share.

This is where the treaty was signed that ended World War II.

One of the ships at Pearl Harbor.

The Arizona Memorial. A solemn place. I said a prayer for peace and for the people who have died in all wars.

The picture on the left doesn't do justice to the waterfall. Can you believe it was in a McDonald's. Below is the bar in HardRock Cafe in Honolulu.

A sunset from our balcony.

It took me half a dozen times going by this tiny island to finally get a picture of it.

This is one of the different looking trees. It's besides the entrance to the Macadamia Nut Farm we saw.

On our tour of the Macadamia Nut place we were on a boat tour on the reservoir the king had made so his people could have safe fishing in stormy weather. One of the sieves in the wall that let's small fish get in and when they grow big keeps them in. It was done over 100 years ago. The reservoir is only about 3 feet deep.

We also saw a show where they made fire and did a dance. I was so near I felt the heat from the flame. They showed a lot about coconuts and made us hats from hibiscus to wear. The hibiscus tree changes colors on it's flowers three times a day. Yellow to orange to pink. Once the flower is picked it stays the same. It's just the tree, not the other plants called hibiscus

John besides a surf board monument at Wakiki.
Below is our hotel from the distance. This side of the hotel had lava beaches. On the other side was sand. Almost all rooms had an ocean view.

We even saw a surfer by the hotel.

Another view walking in front of the hotel.

The Honolulu zoo had a whole herd of chimpanzees. We got to hear a talk by the keeper who told us each one's name and habits. John actually suggested we go to the zoo. And with zoo membership here we got in free!

Speaking of garages, people can now get into all 4 doors of my car in the garage. Yes, that's right, ALL 4 instead of the one that was possible from beyond memory. We took 2 van loads to St. Vincent de Paul and threw away about half that much. I did the actual going through and throwing away or deciding to give away over the space of 3 days. Then today John helped me load and drove and unloaded once we were there. I still have a couple of storage boxes of fiinancial records to go through since we don't need to keep everything for ever. Since we do need some of the records, I need to go through instead of just throwing away but a couple of plastic storage boxes do not make the garage dirty or cluttered. We took the few things that we're keeping from the sid
es of the garage and John hosed it down and scrubbed it. It smells like simple green. I almost feel like having a party to celebrate.
I told Virginia when she was here I'd post some Hawaii pictures. Here's her dad John playing like he's surfing. The beach is called Sandy Beach and we found it the first day when we got lost. They had stainless steel toilets.
When I tried to add another picture, it added it to the top where it made no sense so I'll just end this entry and try another.
GOOD MORNING ALL!!!!!!!!
I accidentally left the garage door open all night. oops. I mentioned to Jeremy that I'm glad that door to the house didn't get blown open because then the dogs would have gone. And Jeremy said that he was glad no one stole his car. Can you believe that he cares more about the car than our poor pups.
plans for today: help out at the Diabetes walk, try and go run around the neighborhood, and then work from 3 to 8. We need to go by the bank as well. and petsmart. Maybe we'll do that tomorrow.
