Man,
it has been a sucky few weeks. here's to hoping that things will get better. I just wish people could be the people that I need them to be. that's a pretty selfish comment, but I'm really not asking much.
So, I applied for a position at the VA. that was my big news. I was suppose to find out if I got it a couple weeks after my interview. that turned into over a month. and the whole thing went down pretty shady because there were only two positions and 4 applicants. so, 2 of the applicants found out they got it last Saturday and even though we all agreed to let each other know if they heard anything, they didn't tell me and actually lied when I asked them directly. but here's the kicker... the guy doing the hiring is trying to find "additional funding" and he has been stringing the other two people along for over a week and a half. so here I am, feeling like the biggest idiot for not getting the position, and hating one of the girls who did get it because she IS NOT RIGHT for the job whatsoever, and twiddling my thumbs waiting for some information on this additional funding that may not even be in existence.
And it sucks that people don't respect me enough to not say or do certain things but they do anyway. I guess I deserve. But dammit, I am who I am and I hate feeling uncomfortable in my own life.

Did you all feel the earthquake around 5:30 this morning? It sounded like someone was pounding on the door and the house shook. I thought something had hit the house. The picture of Virginia with her dad from her wedding that I keep on the computer fell over as did a couple of pictures from the bookcase and the clock on the hutch. Other stuff moved closer to the edge of furniture. I didn't hear the news that there was an earthquake somewhere in Illinois that was felt here until I got to work.
I'm getting ready to go to New York and celebrate Mass with 60,000 other Americans and Pope Benedict. It was great when I thought I would be going as American to join with the other participants representing the American Catholics who were unable to go and pray as one great body of Christians. Since I have heard Pope Benedict speak, I am glad to be able to hear in person his great pastoral message. When he said "God bless America" on the White House lawn, it touched my soul. The Holy Father seems truly a pastor following the path of love and compassion. I was surprised when he got off the plane at how short he was. I was glad to see signs of joy when he greeted America. The way he waved was just cute. Although I often disagree with President Bush, I was thrilled about his greeting of the Pope and glad of his reverence and grateful that he was able to seem to relax and enjoy being with the Pope in spite of their difference. I'm so excited. I hope I can sleep.Tomorrow comes early and it will be a long, long bus ride there and back with lots of waiting in between but I know it will be worth it. I will be praying for all my friends and family while I'm gone.

I am really really really really sad that tomorrow is my last day of classes. isn't that pathetic? I've spent the last 3 years complaining about school, and now I don't want to leave. I am scared about next year. it terrifies me to be away from my friends at school and having to go into the real world.
I went to a dinner last night for CVS, and they announced that they will be sending out contracts in early September. isn't that too early? i don't want to grow up.

Taxes are finally done. It really wasn't bad doing them. It was bad getting started and keeping focus. Now John has to sign the forms and they can go in the mail. The government has the forms on line and I filled them out there but could not send them directly. Seems we make too much for free filing and I am too cheap to pay someone just to send off my work so I printed them out and will mail them tomorrow.

Here I am putting off filling out our income tax yet another day. I got the papers sorted almost but it gets me frustrated and I have to walk away for awhile. If only they would just be satisfied with the withholding unless a person wanted money back. It's just not worth the little we get back since we don't have any deductions. And John hasn't helped by nagging. I guess I'll get it done.
