I really think this is interesting

"To my knowledge I don't know of any black who's ever applied for membership in the Grand Lodge," he said. "Is there anything that would prevent them? No. As the grand master, if I heard of any lodge that denied a man membership because of his race, they wouldn't be a lodge for long."

what a joke... Show me one lodge that isn't segregated in the US cuz I don't think they exist.

By the way, only about a dozen state's Grand Lodge's do not recognize Prince Hall masons yet. (There is no national/ international ruling body over masons). The recognization must come from both sides though. Historically, once that recognization takes place by the Grand Lodge, segregation is at a much lower level. Since 99% of the lodge's that sponsor the four youth groups in KY are allowing black members to join and meet at their lodge, they are making progress. But when racism is still an issue in most areas of the state beside the 1 to 3 large cities (and really even there) it will be hard to de-segregrate an organization that's members mainly come from those rural area. It is not as "black and white" as you feel it is.

A black gentleman affiliated with a lodge overseas that was recognized by the Grand Lodge of Kentucky came and sat in lodge at Barker and various other lodges in KY a few years back. That is not to say anyone in KY would give a black gentleman a petition. However after the flood in West Point, the Masons repaired at their cost an elderly black woman's home.
