This past week has been fairly eventful. On Sunday afternoon we went on a picnic at Jacobson park with our friends Chriss and Lissa. The temperature was nice, but it was very windy and made eating slightly difficult. After eating we took the dogs to the dog park and disaster struck. While skipping across the park, Virginia hit a rut and badly sprained her right ankle. At the time we didn't think it was too bad, and she sat on a chair for the remainder of our time at the dog park. The ankle was very tender and she couldn't put any weight on it, but we figured it would be okay in a few hours. Well, a few hours later, it was much worse, and the pain was starting to get to Virginia. So we decided it would be best to go to the ER to have some x-rays done just to be sure she didn't break any bones or tear any ligaments. Several hours later, it was determined she didn't break any bones, but she was referred to an orthopedist and was given an aircast and crutches since she still couldn't put any weight on her ankle. The next few days were tough for her to get around school. Her ankle continually ached during the week, but by Thursday she was able to limp around and drive again. By Friday she was feeling well enough to decide it would be okay to cancel the doctor appointment. The swelling had gone down, and she was just bruised. So the worst of the ordeal is over although her ankle still hurts some. I don't think Virginia will be skipping in the park again anytime soon.
